New Rotation Links Key Ports in Japan, South Korea, and China Directly to Mombasa and Dar es Salaam
MSC has announced a major enhancement to its network by integrating its existing Oryx and Origami services to create a singular, optimized Enhanced Origami Service. This new rotation establishes a unique and direct link between major hubs in Asia and East Africa, specifically connecting ports in Japan, South Korea, China, and Singapore with Tanzania and Kenya.
The first vessel to operate on this new rotation will be the MSC General IV (voyage number JL546A), scheduled to sail from Tokyo on 9 November 2025.
Unlocking New Competitive Advantages
This enhanced Origami Service is designed to deliver greater efficiencies for cargo shippers and facilitate new business opportunities in the connected markets. It is expected to create competitive advantages, particularly for industries handling automotives, electronics, chemicals, and construction materials.
The complete new port rotation is as follows:
Tokyo – Yokohama – Yokkaichi – Nagoya – Busan – Ningbo – Singapore – Mombasa – Dar es Salaam – Singapore – Kaohsiung – Busan – Tokyo
By providing a direct, single-service link, MSC is simplifying the supply chain and reducing transit times for goods moving between Northeast Asia and the key East African ports of Mombasa (Kenya) and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania).
