MOL LNG-Fueled Car Carrier Marine Day

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) hosted a tour of its newest LNG-fueled car carrier, the CELESTE ACE, as part of a commemorative event for Marine Day 2025. The event, held on July 21, was organized in cooperation with several public and non-profit organizations to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the national holiday.

About 600 students and their families, selected from thousands of applicants, boarded the 200-meter-long vessel at the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal. They were given a tour of the bridge and crew quarters and observed a demonstration of a car-loading operation.

Engaging the Next Generation

In addition to the vessel tour, participants engaged in a range of interactive activities. They operated a ship-handling simulator, viewed hands-on exhibits from the MOL museum, and participated in quizzes and games. A talk show featuring navigators and engineers also provided a direct look into the work of a seafarer.

The event is part of MOL’s “BLUE ACTION for ALL” social contribution initiative, which aims to foster a closer connection between the public and the shipping industry. According to the company, the campaign seeks to raise awareness about the industry among children and the broader public.
