COSCO SHIPPING Sailing Together Responsibility Brand Multi-Tiered ESG Reporting System

Ocean carrier COSCO SHIPPING has officially launched its new corporate social responsibility brand, “Sailing Together,” alongside a comprehensive “1+N+M” sustainability reporting framework during an event at the China National Convention Center.

The launch marks ten years of corporate restructuring and integration (2016–2026), reflecting the group’s efforts to embed environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards across its global supply chain operations.

Structure of the 1+N+M Sustainability Reporting Framework

The reporting system establishes a multi-tiered disclosure mechanism across the group’s global footprint:

  • “1” Annual Comprehensive Report: Serves as the group’s overarching annual sustainability report covering ESG strategic planning, decarbonization initiatives, international community engagement, and supply chain governance. The report received a Five-Star rating from the Chinese Expert Committee of CSR Report Rating.
  • “N” Specialized Domain Reports: Dedicated reports focusing on targeted climate and operational goals. For this release cycle, the group published its 2025 Green Development Report and its initial Overseas Social Responsibility Report.
  • “M” Subsidiary Disclosures: Independent sustainability filings published across all corporate tiers. For 2025, 24 secondary domestic and international subsidiaries published a combined 33 localized reports.

Environmental Initiatives and Captain Panda Public Welfare Launch

In conjunction with its ESG reporting release, COSCO SHIPPING announced a environmental conservation project:

  • Habitat Protection Partnership: Partnered with the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda via the COSCO SHIPPING Charity Foundation to fund habitat conservation, scientific research, and public education.
  • Specialized Research Focus: Supports research into giant panda wild training and rewilding programs, alongside studies assessing human-mental-healing applications in institutional settings.
  • Custom Enrichment Facilities: Delivered ship-shaped enrichment structures modeled after COSCO SHIPPING’s 24,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container vessels to the Panda Center’s Ya’an Base to support animal care.
