Swisslog to Supply Advanced Warehouse Technologies for IKEA Supply Malaysia, Inter IKEA Group

Leading logistics automation specialist Swisslog, member of the KUKA Group, has reported they have received a major order from IKEA Supply (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. Located at Pulai Indah in Selangor, the Distribution Center run by Inter IKEA will be its largest regional distribution center in the Asia Pacific region. In partnership with Swisslog, the 95,000-square metre center will be equipped with an estimated storage capacity of 192,800 cubic meters with Vectura pallet stacker cranes and Swisslog’s SynQ warehouse management system (WMS) software.

Swisslog Malaysia says that Inter IKEA selected them for their local experience in implementing pallet warehouse solutions for major projects, industry software expertise, and strong global reputation. Swisslog Vectura cranes have benefited from 50 years of continuous improvement and have helped to set the standard for innovative design in pallet stacker cranes for high bay warehouses. With the addition of SynQ warehouse management and warehouse execution software, Swisslog says they will deliver a fully integrated, end-to-end material handling automation solution for Inter IKEA.

Swisslog’s SynQ provides the platform for the Malaysian IKEA distribution centre, orchestrating the interaction of individual robotics, warehouse technologies and people to provide highly effective order fulfilment processes. By integrating intelligence into the operations and synchronizing the performance of both automated and manual warehouse equipment, businesses can expect greater improvements in workflow efficiency and productivity.

Dr. Christian Baur

According to Dr. Christian Baur, CEO of Swisslog Logistics Automation, “I am proud that Inter IKEA and IKEA Supply Malaysia is trusting Swisslog with this major project. We place immense focus on supporting our customers to meet their business goals. With our capabilities in covering the entire automation value chain with robotic and data-driven automated solutions that create exceptional value for businesses, we are convinced that we will continue to meet the long-term demands of IKEA and we look forward to building on this relationship.”

“Another reason that we selected Swisslog as our automation partner is their advancements in data-driven automation solutions. The modular architecture of their intelligent SynQ software will help transform our data into actionable intelligence in order to support us in analyzing and optimizing our warehouse performance. When this project is completed, IKEA Supply Malaysia will become the digital hub of advanced, automated intralogistics in this region,” says Mr. Antonio Machado, Project Manager at IKEA Supply Malaysia.
