COSCO SHIPPING Lines has officially established a new local entity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, marking a strategic step in deepening its regional footprint and expanding its integrated logistics capabilities across the Middle East.

The new company, COSCO SHIPPING Lines (Saudi Arabia) Co., Ltd., was unveiled in a ceremony held in Dammam and attended by senior officials and stakeholders, including Mr. Zhang Yong, Executive Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING; Mr. Abdullah Munif, Vice Chairman of the Saudi Ports Authority; Mr. Tian Dong, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING West Asia; and Mr. Cen Wei, General Manager of the newly formed entity.

The move reflects COSCO SHIPPING’s growing focus on Saudi Arabia as a key market within its broader global expansion strategy. The company aims to capitalise on ongoing investments in maritime and inland infrastructure, positioning itself to support the Kingdom’s ambitions under Vision 2030.

COSCO SHIPPING Lines (Saudi Arabia) will play a central role in the company’s Middle East logistics network, supporting liner services and supply chain operations across the region. The company will actively utilise port terminal assets in Jeddah—where COSCO SHIPPING has invested in container handling infrastructure—and leverage future developments, including a planned rail terminal in Jubail Industrial City, being led by COSCO SHIPPING West Asia.

By combining sea transport, customs clearance, land transport, and warehousing under one operational umbrella, COSCO SHIPPING aims to offer end-to-end logistics solutions tailored to the needs of both local and international customers. The company intends to deploy global group resources to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s trade connectivity and enhance logistics efficiency throughout the Arabian Gulf and beyond.

The new entity also represents a broader trend among global carriers to build stronger on-the-ground presences in the Middle East, as trade volumes and infrastructure investment continue to rise across the region.
