CMA CGM has revamped its PEX2 service with the addition of Puerto Antioquia in Colombia as a new direct port of call, strengthening connectivity between Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The revised rotation is designed to improve schedule reliability and port coverage while providing faster access to key Colombian inland markets.

Adding Puerto Antioquia to PEX2

Puerto Antioquia has been inserted into the service immediately after Cartagena, providing a direct connection from Asia with only two additional transit days compared with Cartagena.

The revised PEX2 rotation is:

Vung Tau – Shekou – Hong Kong – Ningbo – Shanghai – Qingdao – Busan – Lazaro Cardenas – Balboa – Manzanillo (Panama) – Cartagena – Puerto Antioquia – Caucedo – Kingston

The first vessel deployed on the revised rotation was CMA CGM Cape Cod, with its Puerto Antioquia call scheduled for 8 October 2026.

Strengthening Access to Colombian Markets

Puerto Antioquia, which opened on 31 January 2026 and is operated by CMA CGM subsidiary CMA Terminals, provides a new deep-water gateway to Colombia.

According to CMA CGM, the terminal offers improved access to major inland markets including Medellín, Bogotá and Bucaramanga, with average inland distances to Medellín and Bogotá approximately 43% shorter than from other northern Colombian gateways.

The terminal is designed to handle both agricultural exports and imports, with imports expected to account for around 60% of its target volume.

Improving Regional Connectivity

The revamped PEX2 service also provides direct connections to the Dominican Republic, Panama, Jamaica, Colombia and Mexico, supported by CMA CGM feeder networks through hubs in Jamaica, Panama and Colombia.

CMA CGM said the addition of Puerto Antioquia will provide customers with more competitive inland transport options and strengthen access to Colombian markets through an alternative gateway.
