LEO Global Logistics (LEO) opened the durian season by delivering fresh durian from Thailand to Kunming, China, using 50 company-owned LEO Reefer Containers, which are its assets and were transported by railway. The transportation was under the management of LaneXang Express (LXE), its subsidiary company, and its key partners, including China Railway International Multimodal Transport (CRCT), a subsidiary of China Railway Group (CR).

In this transportation, the LEO Reefer Container fleet was fully booked three days before the opening season, reflecting customer trust in LEO’s quality and services.
At present, LXE has delivered cargo on the Laos-China railway to destinations within two weeks and has gradually received empty containers back to prepare for the next round of transport, as many customers continue to place orders.

LEO has revealed that this year transportation faces increased challenges. Customs processes have become more complex combined with residue testing such as Basic Yellow (BY2) and Cadmium has caused more time, extending it from 4 days to 8-10 days. Additionally, the concentrated volume of cargo delivered has resulted in congestion at the Thai-Laos-China border checkpoint, further affecting delivery schedules. However, the ability and quality of the LEO Reefer Container to accurately control temperature perfectly preserve the durian until it reaches its destination. This ensures consistent quality for customers and emphasizes LEO’s strategic investment that creates competitive differentiation.

Furthermore, by cooperating with China Railway International Multimodal Transport (CRCT), a subsidiary of China Railway Group (CR) and a key state-owned enterprise in China’s railway sector, to coordinate train departures from Laos and the return of empty containers from Kunming, the company can continuously manage its container transportation cycle and respond promptly to market demand.
Additionally, LEO can plan proactively and fully expand its services this year because of its success in durian transport pilot tests on railways last year.
Mr. Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, CEO of LEO Global Logistics, said, “We are proud to be part of driving Thailand’s fruit export, especially durian, which is an important product of our country. We believe that the investment in reefers and the potential development of staff along the transport route will advance Thailand’s logistics capability to the regional level and build long-term sustainability.”
The company is committed to continuing to develop international rail transport capabilities through temperature-controlled technology and strong partnerships across Thailand, Laos, and China, to build an efficient long-term transportation system for agricultural products.
