For more than 30 years, LCB1 Group has supported the development of Laem Chabang Port and Thailand’s position as a regional trade hub. Building on this foundation, LCB1 Group is entering a new chapter shaped by new leadership, a renewed organizational identity and a stronger focus on efficient and sustainable operations.

These developments come as Thailand continues to invest in the Eastern Economic Corridor and Laem Chabang Port. Terminal operators must also respond to increasing regional competition, changing customer expectations and growing demand for more sustainable supply chains.

LM had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Mehdi Ben Mouloud, the new Chief Executive Officer of LCB1 Group, about his leadership philosophy and vision for the Group’s future.

Building on a Strong Foundation

LCB1 Group’s three decades of experience have provided the Group with extensive operational knowledge, established industry relationships and a strong understanding of customer requirements.

Throughout this period, LCB1 Group has supported Thailand’s international trade while working closely with customers, shareholders, government organizations and industry partners, including the Port Authority of Thailand. The Group is now using this experience and stakeholder trust as a platform for its next stage of development.

“LCB1 Group has built a strong reputation over the past 30 years and plays a critical role in supporting Thailand’s trade and economic growth,” Mr. Ben Mouloud said. “I am proud to become part of a broader family of shareholders and partners that brings together considerable strengths and expertise. This provides a strong foundation for future growth and innovation.”

New Leadership for LCB1 Group’s Next Chapter

Mr. Mehdi joins LCB1 Group with nearly two decades of experience in the global port and terminal industry, including leadership responsibilities across Europe, Africa and Latin America. Throughout his career, he has led teams that achieved industry-leading results, demonstrating lean leadership, fostering strong relationships with customers and regulatory stakeholders, and creating shareholder value.

His management philosophy is centered on people development, customer relationships and continuous improvement.

“People are the magic behind any successful business,” he explained. “Highly engaged teams consistently achieve higher levels of performance, innovation and customer satisfaction.”

His approach combines Lean leadership with customer-centricity, encouraging employees to identify inefficiencies, solve problems and improve processes while keeping operational development closely connected to customer needs.

“My vision is to position LCB1 Group among Southeast Asia’s leading container terminal operators, recognized not only for operational performance, but also for safety, customer experience, innovation, sustainability and people development,” Mr. Mehdi said.

Trusted, Efficient and Future-Ready

LCB1 Group’s renewed organizational direction is centered on three principles: Trusted, Efficient and Future-Ready.

Trust reflects the relationships the Group has developed through more than 30 years of reliable operations and cooperation with stakeholders. Efficiency represents its commitment to maximizing the value of infrastructure, equipment, technology and people. Being future-ready requires the ability to adapt as trade patterns, customer expectations and environmental requirements continue to evolve.

Mr. Mehdi believes that infrastructure and equipment alone cannot provide a lasting competitive advantage.

“Technology, equipment and infrastructure are important, but it is ultimately people who create value, solve problems, serve customers and drive innovation,” he said. “My role as a leader is to create an environment where everyone can bring both their hearts and brains into the game every day.”

LCB1 Group therefore aims to develop a workplace culture based on safety, teamwork, accountability, trust, customer focus and continuous improvement.

“Every container moving through our terminals supports businesses, livelihoods and economic growth,” Mr. Mehdi added. “That is why we will continue investing in digitalization, operational excellence and sustainable practices while nurturing a strong and engaged workplace culture.”

Supporting Thailand’s Trade Growth

LCB1 Group’s transformation is taking place as Thailand strengthens its position as one of the ASEAN region’s leading logistics hubs.

The country benefits from a strategic location, a strong manufacturing base and continued investment in transport infrastructure. The Eastern Economic Corridor and development of Laem Chabang Port are improving Thailand’s connectivity and attractiveness for international trade and investment.

Although global uncertainty and changing trade patterns present challenges, they are also encouraging businesses to seek more resilient and diversified supply chains.

“I remain very optimistic about the future,” Mr. Mehdi said. “Thailand is well positioned to benefit from these trends and will play an increasingly important role in the ASEAN region and global trade networks.”

Advancing Sustainable Operations

Sustainability is another central element of LCB1 Group’s future direction. Although greener terminal operations require investment, the Group does not view sustainability and commercial competitiveness as conflicting priorities.

“We believe they reinforce one another,” Mr. Mehdi explained. “Our sustainability efforts are not simply compliance initiatives. They are investments in the long-term future of our business, our communities and the environment.”

LCB1 Group’s Green Terminal strategy includes electric-powered equipment, energy-efficient operations, solar energy and stronger environmental management systems.

The transition towards electric-powered equipment will support the Group’s ambition to develop more sustainable terminal fleets and reduce its dependence on conventional fuel-powered machinery. Its environmental strategy also connects equipment investment with energy management, operational efficiency and emissions measurement.

LCB1 Group is pursuing ISO 14064-1 and Carbon Footprint for Organization certification to support the measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and provide a structured framework for its environmental strategy.

“For us, sustainability goes beyond reducing emissions,” Mr. Mehdi said. “It is about operating responsibly for our employees, customers, communities and future generations.”

Preparing for the Future

LCB1 Group enters its next chapter with more than 30 years of experience, established partnerships and a strong position within Thailand’s port and logistics sector.

With Mr. Mehdi’s international experience, a renewed organizational direction and a Green Terminal strategy focused on electric-powered equipment and environmental responsibility, LCB1 Group is preparing to support Thailand’s future trade growth while remaining Trusted, Efficient and Future-Ready.
