Amid continued shifts in the global economy, East Asia remains one of the most important engines of international trade, with China and Japan continuing to play central roles in regional innovation and supply chain development. Against this backdrop, strong and dependable shipping links have become increasingly important for businesses moving cargo across Asia.

As a leading Chinese shipping line, JJ Shipping is focused on strengthening maritime connectivity between China, Japan, and Thailand, which remains both a major manufacturing base and one of Southeast Asia’s key trade gateways. Through its regional network and service capabilities, the company is working to help customers access important trade opportunities more efficiently and with greater convenience.

In this issue, LM had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Wang Xianquin, General Manager, and Mr. Wu Shuang, Sales and Marketing Manager of JJ Shipping, about the company’s role in supporting customers through its shipping services, operational capabilities, and future plans.

Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping (Group), under the supervision of the Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), operates a logistics network that spans a broad range of transportation activities across China. This allows the group to support both import and export operations, while also providing regional trade links that connect origins and destinations throughout customers’ supply chains.

In Thailand, the company has built its local presence through Jinjiang Shipping Agency (Thailand), or JJ Shipping, which has been operating in the market for more than 10 years. Over that period, the company has continued serving customers across a wide range of industries, including Thai businesses and major international brands.

As part of a major Chinese group, JJ Shipping Thailand is able to draw on the scale of China’s trade network to support smoother and more stable operations between Thailand and China. The presence of a Chinese management team in Thailand also helps enable quicker decision-making and closer operational alignment, allowing the company to respond effectively to the needs of businesses ranging from local brands to multinational corporations. The result is a more seamless supply chain and stronger support for sustained business growth.

Mr. Wang said, “Since 2023, we have enhanced our service capabilities by deploying Bangkok Max container vessels at Bangkok Port to strengthen connectivity between Thailand and key trading partners such as China, Japan, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian countries, with a focus on safety technology, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.”

JJ Shipping currently supports Thailand’s logistics sector through six service routes across the region, including CTX linking Thailand and China via Vietnam, CSI connecting Thailand and India via Malaysia, CVT2 as a direct Thailand–China service, IA88 as a direct Thailand–Japan service, CTX2 linking Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and China, as well as CTJ, which provides direct connectivity between Thailand, China, and Japan.

One of the company’s latest developments is the upgraded CTJ service, which has been restructured into a direct service. The move is intended to help avoid congestion at transshipment ports while also supporting growing demand as more cargo shifts from cross-border transport to sea freight.

CTJ also stands out because JJ Shipping is the sole operator on the route. This gives the company greater control over service standards while supporting competitive freight rates. Transit times from Shekou and Shanghai to Tokyo and Yokohama are as short as four to eight days.

Each CTJ sailing can carry around 1,500 TEUs, or approximately 20,000 tons of cargo, and is equipped with around 200 to 300 reefer plugs for temperature-controlled shipments. This supports the movement of pharmaceutical products as well as perishable goods. The service rotation begins at Bangkok Port, calls at Laem Chabang at ESCO terminal, and then continues to Shekou, Shanghai, Tokyo, Yokohama, and Ningbo.

Another important route is CVT2, which was launched in late 2025 to strengthen direct connectivity between Thailand and China. The service was introduced with a clear objective: to cut transit time from Bangkok to Qingdao from 18 days to just seven. This is expected to support cargo flows for products such as tapioca starch, rubber, and industrial goods. The rotation connects Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Shanghai, and Qingdao.

Mr. Wu Shuang, Marketing Sales Manager of JJ Shipping

Alongside its mainline services, JJ Shipping has also extended its experience in China into Thailand through barge operations between Bangkok and Laem Chabang. This helps connect domestic transportation with international shipping services more efficiently, supporting cargo movement from origin to export gateway with greater speed and coordination.

Mr. Wu said, “With strong operational bases in China and Japan, JJ Shipping provides barge services between major ports within just 2–3 days, including access to secondary ports such as Moji, Hakata, Shimizu, and Naha via transshipment. This helps avoid congestion at major ports using smaller, faster vessels.”

The wider network also allows cargo to move via Shanghai to inland destinations such as Wuhan, Chongqing, and Huanggang, further broadening options for customers that require access beyond the main coastal gateways.

JJ Shipping is also continuing to modernize its operations through both fleet investment and customer service improvements. Its newer vessels, including M.V. Mild Peony, M.V. Mild Jasmine, M.V. Mild Rose, and M.V. Mild Orchid, reflect the company’s focus on applying modern technology to service delivery. At the same time, the company has expanded its digital capabilities through an online platform that allows customers to book cargo space, track shipments in real time, and coordinate logistics more conveniently.

Mr. Wu said, “Beyond deploying modern vessels such as M.V. Mild Peony, M.V. Mild Jasmine, M.V. Mild Rose, and M.V. Mild Orchid, we are also enhancing customer service efficiency through a comprehensive online platform.”

However, the company also recognizes that fast human response remains essential when operational issues arise.

To reduce disruption for customers, JJ Shipping has developed a hotline system that supports urgent requests outside normal working hours. If customers encounter problems with container pick-up or return, specialist teams are available to respond quickly and help keep cargo moving without unnecessary delay.

With cargo volumes in Thailand continuing to grow, JJ Shipping sees further room to expand its service platform and develop a more comprehensive logistics network. One of its next planned steps is the development of a new empty container depot under the company’s own management. The project is intended to support rising customer demand while improving the efficiency of container pickup and return processes.

Looking ahead, JJ Shipping is also preparing to expand its network further within Southeast Asia. According to the Thai source, the company is planning to extend its reach through a direct service linking Thailand and China, with a focus on speed and flexibility. The route is expected to support cargo such as sugar and flour while contributing to wider regional logistics development.
