On 24 December, Whale Logistics Group signed a purchase agreement with U POWER Limited to acquire battery-electric trucks equipped with battery-swap technology for its freight operations. The partnership also confirmed plans to install automated battery-swapping stations in Chonburi in 2026.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Teerachit Sornjang, Chief Executive Officer of Whale Logistics Group, and Mr. Johny Lee, Chief Executive Officer of U POWER Limited. The collaboration brings together Whale’s logistics expertise and U POWER’s intelligent vehicle technology, with the aim of supporting more sustainable logistics operations in Thailand.
The battery-swap system allows a depleted battery to be replaced automatically in approximately six minutes, significantly reducing downtime compared with conventional charging, which can take up to an hour. In addition to improving operational efficiency, the technology is expected to help lower operating costs while supporting environmental objectives.
Beyond the fleet upgrade, the two companies also announced plans to develop Thailand’s first automated battery-swapping stations. Phase one is scheduled to be built in Sriracha, approximately 11 kilometers from Whale Logistics’ facilities, with completion and system testing targeted for April 2026. Subsequent phases are planned for additional locations in Chonburi, followed by expansion into other strategic areas.
