Laem Chabang Port senior executives and operational officers officially welcomed a high-level delegation of Canadian Free Trade Negotiators alongside representatives from the Eastern Economic Corridor Office for a comprehensive site visit.

The delegation was received by Mr. Tienchai Makthiengtrong, Director of the Office of Support Services Administration, Mr. Ud Tuntivejakul, General Administrative Officer 1, SM.3 Patinya Sirirak, Chief of Public Relations Section, and Mr. Chris Pilara, Public Private Partnership Project Management Officer. The primary purpose of the international visit was to observe operations firsthand and receive detailed updates on the structural progress of the Laem Chabang Port Phase 3 development project.

Strengthening Indo-Pacific Bilateral Trade Ties

The strategic visit was specifically designed to enhance the Canadian delegation’s understanding of the massive development potential embedded within the Phase 3 expansion. Furthermore, the meeting provided an important platform for both sides to exchange insights regarding trade and investment policies between Thailand and Canada, particularly under the umbrella of the broader Indo-Pacific economic cooperation framework.

As Canada and Thailand continue to navigate free trade discussions, establishing a clear picture of Thailand’s primary maritime gateway remains crucial for future bilateral agreements and trade pacts.

Strategic Progress on Terminal Infrastructure

During the official briefing, Mr. Chris Pilara and Mr. Ud Tuntivejkul delivered a combined presentation detailing the port’s daily operations, long-term development roadmaps, and the exact construction milestones of the Phase 3 infrastructure. They emphasized that this expansion is recognized as a cornerstone infrastructure initiative under Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor policy.

Once completed, the project will significantly elevate national logistics capabilities, lower container handling bottlenecks, and provide the deep-water berth capacity necessary to support long-term economic growth and global trade expansion.

Elevating Regional Supply Chain Connectivity

The Laem Chabang Port Development Project Phase 3 stands as one of the most critical strategic infrastructure pillars in Southeast Asia. By dramatically increasing the port’s annual TEU capacity and integrating advanced automated terminal technology, the expansion aims to solidify Thailand’s position as a premier regional logistics and transportation hub.

This enhanced infrastructure will ultimately secure more resilient supply chain connectivity across the region, making the port an increasingly attractive destination for international shipping lines and foreign direct investment.
