CMA CGM Transpacific Network Eagle Express 1 Call Port of Kobe

The CMA CGM Group has officially marked the maiden call of its enhanced Eagle Express 1 (EX1) service at the Port of Kobe, welcoming the 15,000 TEU container vessel PRESIDENT LB JOHNSON. The deployment introduces expanded port coverage across Japan, offering commercial shippers direct, weekly transpacific routing to the United States West Coast to enhance supply chain predictability.

By adding regular weekly calls at Kobe, Nagoya, and Yokohama on the outbound leg, the updated U.S.-flag service establishes structured transit times for regional electronics, automotive, and industrial exporters moving freight into the North American market.

Streamlined Transpacific Transit Times to Los Angeles

The adjusted network configuration delivers competitive, direct transit corridors from major Japanese industrial gateways to the U.S. mainland. Under the revised sailing schedule, transpacific transit times to the Port of Los Angeles are established at:

  • 16 Days from the Port of Kobe
  • 14 Days from the Port of Nagoya
  • 12 Days from the Port of Yokohama

The routing is supported by CMA CGM’s dedicated terminal assets across the Pacific corridor, including Fenix Marine Services (FMS) in Los Angeles, Busan New Container Terminal (BNC) in South Korea, and the Honmoku D5 terminal infrastructure in Yokohama. This asset-integrated approach provides structured berthing priority and predictable terminal processing.

Intermodal Connections to United States Inland Markets

For multi-modal cargo movements, the EX1 service integrates direct on-dock rail access at the Fenix Marine Services terminal in Los Angeles. This connection allows logistics managers to arrange day-definite rail transit from the dock to major commercial hubs across the U.S. Midwest and Southern markets, avoiding external drayage delays and stabilizing end-to-end transport timelines.

The full port rotation for the enhanced EX1 service follows a fixed weekly loop: Qingdao – Busan – Kobe – Nagoya – Yokohama – Los Angeles – Oakland – Yokohama – Naha – Busan – Qingdao.

Complementary Asia-Europe Connectivity via Ocean Rise Express

To complement the transpacific expansion, CMA CGM has also highlighted its Ocean Rise Express (OCR) service, which connects Japanese manufacturing centers directly to Northern European maritime gateways. Operating on a fixed rotation, the OCR service links Kobe, Nagoya, and Yokohama to major European distribution centers. Cargo dispatched from Yokohama achieves a transit time of 38 days to Rotterdam, 41 days to Hamburg, and 45 days to Southampton.

Hideki Uchida, Representative Director and President of CMA CGM Japan, noted that expanding port coverage in Kobe, Nagoya, and Yokohama delivers practical, long-term trade alternatives for local shippers looking for reliable velocity to the United States and Europe.

CMA CGM has maintained a commercial presence in Japan since 2007. The group currently operates 14 distinct marine services across 14 Japanese ports, supported by an established local workforce of nearly 200 employees across five regional offices. The carrier’s logistics division, CEVA Logistics, operates alongside the maritime network to provide integrated domestic supply chain management and warehousing services across the country.
