Commemorative Railcar Display Marks 10th Anniversary of Japan-Taiwan Friendship Agreement
LOGISTEED, Ltd. has successfully completed the complex heavy-lift transportation of a TOBU RAILWAY “Nikko Moude SPACIA” lead car from Japan to its new home at Taipei Main Station. The move serves as the centerpiece for the 10th-anniversary celebration of the friendship agreement between TOBU RAILWAY and Taiwan Railway Corporation (TRC).
The project marks the first time a TOBU RAILWAY limited express train car has been exported overseas. Adorned in a striking gold livery inspired by the World Heritage shrines and temples of Nikko, the railcar now stands as a permanent symbol of the deep tourism and cultural exchange between the two regions.
A Multimodal Heavy-Lift Achievement
Transporting a railcar weighing several dozen tons across international borders required meticulous engineering and coordination by LOGISTEED’s specialized project cargo team. The journey included:
- Land Transport: Precision hauling from the vehicle depot in Tatebayashi City, Gunma to Chiba Port.
- Maritime Logistics: Secure loading and sea transit from Japan to Taipei Port.
- Urban Installation: Final local transport through Taipei’s streets and the technical hoisting of the lead car into its exhibition position in front of Taipei Main Station’s East Gate 3.

Celebrating a Decade of Cooperation
The friendship agreement, originally signed on December 18, 2015, has fostered a decade of collaborative PR events and mutual guest campaigns. The arrival of the “Nikko Moude SPACIA” in Taipei follows recent reciprocal efforts, such as the deployment of the “Red Train to Taiwan” on Japan’s Keikyu Line.
LOGISTEED utilized its extensive experience in railway carriage logistics to manage the end-to-end process, ensuring the vessel and its “golden” cargo arrived without a scratch. The exhibition was officially inaugurated with a ceremony featuring a traditional lion dance and senior officials from both Japan and Taiwan, marking a new chapter in regional railway heritage.
