Strategic Integration Bolsters Agri-Food Presence and Accelerates Fleet Decarbonization
GEODIS has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Malherbe, a premier specialist in full truckload (FTL) road freight. This acquisition, first announced in late December 2025, is a transformative move for GEODIS, propelling the Group into the top three players in the French FTL and less-than-truckload (LTL) market with a combined annual revenue of €2 billion.
The deal significantly increases the density of GEODIS’s national network, adding Malherbe’s extensive infrastructure and specialized expertise in the resilient agri-food and mass retail sectors.
Expanding Footprint and Operational Synergy
Founded in 1956, Malherbe brings a robust asset-heavy model to the GEODIS European Road Network. The integration adds:
- Fleet Strength: Approximately 1,500 company-owned trucks and specialized transport equipment.
- National Coverage: A network of 40 branch offices across France, providing deep local reach.
- Workforce Expansion: Over 3,300 skilled employees joining the GEODIS team.
Marie-Christine Lombard, CEO of GEODIS, stated that the merger creates a “strong French alternative” in the logistics market, combining operational excellence with strategic autonomy. The move is a core pillar of the Group’s “Ambition 2027” strategy, which focuses on accelerating growth through commercial expansion and operational performance.
A Shared Commitment to Decarbonization
The acquisition also serves as a major catalyst for GEODIS’s sustainability goals. Since 2024, Malherbe has been executing a comprehensive energy transition program, which includes:
- Fleet Electrification: The gradual rollout of electric heavy-duty vehicles for regional distribution.
- Energy Diversification: Integration of alternative fuels and biofuels across the long-haul fleet.
- Infrastructure Investment: Installation of dedicated charging stations at key branch locations.
By aligning Malherbe’s localized green initiatives with GEODIS’s global carbon reduction roadmap, the combined entity is positioned to lead the French transport sector’s shift toward net-zero operations. The transaction remains subject to final regulatory approvals, with completion expected in the coming months.
