Interasia Lines KCI Service Maiden Call Incheon

Interasia Lines has officially inaugurated its new Korea-China-Indonesia (KCI) service, marking the carrier’s first direct link between South Korea and the Indonesian market. The INTERASIA ENGAGE made its maiden call at the Hanjin Incheon Container Terminal (HJIT) on 14 January 2026, where a high-level welcome ceremony was held to commemorate the milestone.

The event was attended by President Lee of the Incheon Port Authority, the CEO of Hanjin Incheon Terminal, and Jerry Hsieh, Representative of Interasia Lines Korea, alongside key local logistics partners.

Expanding the Intra-Asia Network

The KCI service is a strategic four-party cooperation that includes TS Lines, Namsung Shipping, and Gold Star Line. This new loop provides a robust weekly connection across Northeast and Southeast Asia, specifically designed to support the rising trade volumes between Korea’s industrial hubs and Indonesia’s emerging manufacturing centers.

The optimized port rotation for the KCI service is:

Busan – Incheon – Qingdao – Shanghai – Jakarta – Surabaya – Shekou – Busan

Targeted Logistics for Indonesia

By providing a direct call to Jakarta and Surabaya, the KCI service significantly enhances import and export efficiency for the Indonesian market. Key benefits of the new route include:

  • Direct Connectivity: Eliminates the need for transshipment in Singapore or Port Klang, reducing overall transit times and handling risks.
  • Cold Chain Support: The service offers attractive reefer transit times, catering to the growing demand for perishables and temperature-sensitive electronics between Korea and Indonesia.
  • Increased Capacity: The deployment of the 2,782-TEU INTERASIA ENGAGE reinforces Interasia’s commitment to providing reliable scheduling options in the competitive Intra-Asia trade.

A Milestone Year for Interasia Lines

The launch of the KCI service follows a record-breaking year for Interasia Lines, which surpassed 1 million TEUs in annual traffic for the first time in 2025. This expansion is part of a broader 2026 strategy to increase vessel sizes and enter high-growth markets. As the company continues to stabilize its utilization rates, the KCI service stands as a testament to its long-term focus on developing specialized infrastructure across the China-Korea-Southeast Asia corridor.
