HMM has held the naming ceremony for HMM CLOVER, a 9,000 TEU methanol-powered containership and sister vessel to HMM GREEN, which was delivered earlier this year.
The ceremony included the traditional champagne-breaking ritual to mark the vessel’s official entry into service.
HMM CLOVER forms part of a series of nine next-generation containerships capable of operating on bio-methanol. According to the company, the use of bio-methanol can reduce carbon emissions by up to 65 per cent compared with conventional marine fuels.
HMM said the addition of the new vessel supports both the expansion of its service network and its longer-term strategy to reduce emissions across its fleet.
