Wan Hai Lines held a ship naming ceremony for the “WAN HAI A19” at Samsung Heavy Industries Geoje shipyard. Ms. Huifang Zhang, Logistics Director of Meiying Household Group Co., Ltd, performed the christening rituals, offering blessings for the vessel’s good fortune and safe journeys.

The “WAN HAI A19” is the twelfth vessel in a series of thirteen 13,100 TEU containerships ordered by Wan Hai Lines from Samsung Heavy Industries in 2021. Expected for delivery in early June, the vessel will subsequently join Wan Hai Lines’ Asia to West Coast of South America service, known as “ASA.”

These new containerships measure 335 meters in length overall and 51 meters in breadth. They feature new engines and incorporate various eco-friendly and energy-saving designs. Furthermore, this series of vessels has obtained “Smart Ship Notation” certification, enabling the use of diverse monitoring systems and communication equipment to collect real-time navigation data and equipment operation conditions, thereby ensuring safe and reliable maritime transportation services.

The ongoing delivery of Wan Hai Lines’ 13,100 TEU series vessels represents a significant expansion and upgrade of the company’s owned fleet. This initiative not only enhances the company’s shipping capacity but also strengthens its market competitiveness, aiming to provide customers with more comprehensive and high-quality services.

In conjunction with the vessel naming, Wan Hai Lines also made a donation to a local charity organization, the Geumgang Temple Child Care center. This gesture underscores Wan Hai Lines’ motto, “We carry, we care,” reflecting the company’s commitment to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by providing quality service to customers and contributing positively to society.
