MSC’s logistics arm, MEDLOG, has officially inaugurated its new inland terminal at Paris-Bruyères, a pivotal multimodal platform poised to significantly enhance supply chain efficiency and accelerate decarbonization efforts across Europe. The 11-hectare facility, which commenced operations in late 2024, establishes a critical direct link between the bustling port of Le Havre and key inland destinations.

Strategically located just 40 kilometers north of the French capital, the MEDLOG Inland Terminal Paris-Bruyères is designed to seamlessly integrate road, rail, and barge transportation. This strategic convergence of transport modes is expected to dramatically streamline deliveries for customers while substantially reducing carbon emissions associated with cargo movement.

The expansive hub offers a comprehensive suite of logistics services, including container maintenance and repair, dedicated storage, and specialized reefer (refrigerated) services vital for the agri-food and pharmaceutical industries. Its capabilities also extend to handling breakbulk and project cargo, underscoring its versatility.

Equipped with a two-track rail terminal and a 230-meter river quay, the facility ensures smooth door-to-door deliveries by facilitating cargo transfer via road, rail, or barge. With an impressive annual capacity exceeding 100,000 TEUs, this scalable infrastructure is set to boost productivity and contribute significantly to economic development within the Île-de-France region, a crucial area for both national and international trade.

The official inauguration ceremony drew over 300 customers, partners, and local officials, who were offered guided tours and an immersive VR experience showcasing multimodal logistics and MSC’s sustainability journey.

Supporting Sustainable Growth

The terminal’s optimized infrastructure prioritizes sustainability, with only the crucial last-mile connectivity handled by trucks. This approach not only enhances the flexibility of MSC’s extensive network but also actively works to reduce emissions and alleviate congestion, aligning with the company’s broader commitment to logistics decarbonization.

Customers are set to benefit from direct connections to and from Le Havre Port, leading to shorter transit times and cost-efficient multimodal solutions. MSC aims to provide end-to-end support, acting as a single point of contact for all logistics needs.

A Long-Term Vision for European Connectivity

This project is a cornerstone of a larger investment program, the TN MSC Port 2000 project, spearheaded by Terminal Investment Limited (TiL), MSC’s port-operating arm. The overarching goal is to foster more efficient connections between local and global markets via Le Havre port, thereby supporting economic growth, building resilient supply chains, and minimizing environmental impact.

Salvatore Prudente, Executive Director of MEDLOG, emphasized the strategic imperative behind the investment: “It is natural that, when the opportunity arises, we invest without hesitation in this type of well-located and multimodal terminals, in order to better serve our clients through closer proximity to their facilities; thereby ensuring a more streamlined, regular, and reliable service, while also reducing the carbon footprint associated with the transport of containers and goods.”
