Amid a rapidly evolving global trade landscape, the Thai International Cargo and Container Terminals Association (TICTA) stands as a pivotal organisation committed to elevating the operational standards of Thailand’s container terminals. Its work centres on strengthening three core pillars: efficiency, transparency and sustainability.

TICTA not only connects terminal operators nationwide, but also shapes policy direction and supports community development, ensuring that Thailand’s transport and logistics capabilities continue to advance.

At the heart of TICTA’s mission is the promotion of efficient, ethical and future-ready management systems. The association focuses on development and problem-solving across several critical areas:

Enhancing Competitiveness
• Advocating revisions to regulations to increase the volume of transshipment containers, opening new opportunities for shipping routes and strengthening national cargo capacity for the benefit of importers, exporters and the wider economy.
• Proposing that Laem Chabang Port’s service rates and fees be revised to better reflect actual costs and current economic conditions. This restructuring aims to give customers a competitive advantage through lower overall transport costs.
• Supporting the introduction of modern technologies to improve service flexibility, safety and operational reliability.

Resolving Logistics Bottlenecks
• Co-developing the Truck Queue System with Laem Chabang Port to ease congestion and distribute terminal usage more evenly.
• Monitoring the maintenance of essential infrastructure, including waterway dredging, electricity, water supply, and rail and road networks, which are vital public utilities for terminal users.
• Providing information and recommendations to support the development of international transport policies and to strengthen Thailand’s maritime commercial sector.

Promoting Transparency and Fairness
• Participating in policy forums to propose amendments and new regulations that enhance the effectiveness of the transport and logistics sectors.
• Advocating a fair revision of land and building tax rates for both the public and private sectors.
• Calling for a designated common area for storing government-seized containers to reduce congestion and operational burden on terminal operators.

Safety Advocacy

TICTA places strong emphasis on safety in all aspects of cargo handling. This includes operations within terminals, the management of general and containerised cargo, and the handling of hazardous goods to ensure that all parties prioritise safe working practices.

TICTA’s achievements are driven by strong collaboration across government, international organisations and industry partners:

  • Government partners: Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Commerce, Marine Department, Customs Department, Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), Port Authority of Thailand (PAT), Laem Chabang Municipality and other relevant agencies.
  • International organisations and industry bodies: United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), World Trade Organization (WTO), World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the Thai National Shippers’ Council (TNSC), the World Bank and others.

TICTA recognises that business development must progress alongside social and environmental care. Its CSR activities reflect a sustained commitment to both community welfare and environmental conservation.

  • Community Support: Scholarships, lunch programmes for child development centres and donations to hospitals and foundations.
  • Environmental Initiatives: Tree-planting activities, community and coastal waste collection, and participation in seminars promoting environmental awareness.

Throughout 2025, TICTA continued to demonstrate its volunteer spirit through key initiatives:

  • May 2025: CSR activities at Ban Banglamung Foster Home in Chonburi, including donations of essential items and a joint coastal clean-up, aligned with PAT’s sustainable community development framework.
  • September 2025: Tree-planting activities organised with the Port Authority of Thailand and member companies within the port area to expand green spaces and support long-term environmental goals.
