PSA Singapore and Hainan Harbor & Shipping International Port Co., Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance port connectivity and supply chain solutions. The partnership aims to strengthen cargo flow and resilience between South China and Southeast Asia by leveraging the combined expertise of PSA, which operates the world’s largest transshipment hub, and the operator of Yangpu International Container Terminal (YPICT) in Hainan.
Strategic Partnership for Trade Resilience
The MOU establishes a framework for both organizations to explore joint operational initiatives that will enhance trade connectivity and service efficiency. According to Nelson Quek, Regional CEO Southeast Asia of PSA International, the collaboration aligns with the company’s “Node-to-Network” strategy by combining its extensive global reach with YPICT’s strategic location in South China. The partnership is expected to unlock new opportunities for trade flows and support the long-term logistics development of Hainan Island.
A Gateway for Global Trade
Mr. Wang Ran, Chairman of Hainan Harbor & Shipping Holding Co., Ltd., stated that the MOU is a significant step toward making Yangpu Port a premier gateway for both Hainan and global trade. The collaboration with PSA is intended to drive the development of Yangpu Port and align with the growth objectives of the Hainan free trade port. Both parties will work to enhance port connectivity and operational excellence to serve the evolving needs of global supply chains.
