MSC Launch Fast Alpaca Service Connecting Asia South America

MSC is set to launch a new standalone service, the Alpaca, in September 2025. The new route is designed to provide customers with significantly faster transit times for cargo traveling from the Far East to the West Coast of South America. The service will offer market-leading speeds between major ports, including from Ningbo, China, to Callao, Peru.

Key Ports and Strategic Benefits

The weekly service will feature a full port rotation that includes Ningbo, Busan, Callao, Arica, Iquique, San Antonio, Nansha, Hong Kong, and Ningbo. The route is strategically designed to provide additional direct calls to Chilean ports and improve connectivity to Bolivia’s trade gateways at Arica and Iquique.

During the Chilean cherry season, the Alpaca service will operate as the “Cherry Express,” providing a fast and reliable solution for exporters to reach Asian markets. The service will utilize MSC’s Smart Reefer technology to ensure cargo integrity, freshness, and visibility for all refrigerated shipments.
