Success in Thailand’s container logistics sector today requires far more than moving boxes from one point to another. Importers, exporters, and freight forwarders increasingly prioritize efficiency, transparency, sustainability, and reliability across the entire supply chain. Container quality, handling standards, maintenance processes, and asset turnaround times all play a direct role in protecting cargo value and operational continuity.

MEDLOG, part of the MSC Group, delivers end-to-end inland logistics solutions for global supply chains, combining international expertise with a strong local presence. In Thailand, the company has continued to expand its service capabilities to ensure customers receive consistent, high-quality support at every stage of their logistics operations.

To understand MEDLOG’s strategic positioning, service commitments, and the role of the newly established MEDLOG Thai Depot Laem Chabang (MTD LCP), Logistics Manager spoke with Mr. Peeradech Jareonsetthapanich, Country General Manager of MEDLOG Thailand.

With a presence in more than 90 countries, MEDLOG provides container depot operations, maintenance and repair, drayage services, cold chain handling, multimodal transportation, warehousing, and value-added logistics support. The network is designed to connect seamlessly with the ocean freight services, offering customers a streamlined, single-partner experience across sea and land.

  • MEDLOG Thai Depot (MTD) operates three facilities in Laem Chabang and Lat Krabang, with the ability to handle approximately 53,000 TEU per month, store 13,000 TEU, and manage over 800 TEU of repairs per day.
  • MEDLOG Logistics Services provides inland transport and warehousing solutions, including road and barge services, customs clearance, and value-added support for import and export shipments.
  • Bangkok Barge Service (BBS) offers barge transport between Bangkok Port and Laem Chabang, helping reduce road congestion and lower emissions with a monthly handling capacity of around 35,000 TEU.

The opening of MEDLOG Thai Depot Laem Chabang (MTD LCP) marks a significant milestone in strengthening inland support for ocean shipping activity. Located just seven kilometers from Laem Chabang Port and spanning 56,000 square meters, the depot provides direct, rapid access for cargo flows to and from Thailand’s primary maritime gateway.

Designed based on peak seasonal demand patterns and projected growth, the depot features:

  • Storage Capacity of over 6,700 TEU
  • Twelve gates supporting more than 26,000 TEU throughput per month
  • IICL-6 certified specialists overseeing container handling, inspection, repair, and cleaning

The facility also plays a role in easing local traffic congestion by improving truck flow and minimizing idle times.

“We recognized the challenges of congestion during peak periods. Additional entrance and exit gates were introduced to maintain steady movement and reduce waiting times,” Mr. Jareonsetthapanich explained. “Operations are monitored in real time, enabling our team to respond immediately to any situation.”

MEDLOG Thailand places strong emphasis on environmental and social responsibility. At MTD LCP, a certified wastewater treatment system separates and purifies water before it returns to natural waterways, preventing contamination and ensuring compliance with environmental standards in the Laem Chabang area.

The depot also follows stringent sound and safety regulations to minimize impacts on neighboring communities, reflecting MEDLOG’s broader commitment to maintaining responsible and sustainable operations.

Looking ahead, MEDLOG Thailand is advancing its digital capabilities. By 2026, a truck window reservation system will be introduced across MEDLOG Thai Depot sites. The system will allow drivers to complete check-ins digitally and enter depots using QR or mobile verification, reducing queue times, paperwork, and operational costs for transporters and forwarders.

Through collaboration with MSC Thailand, MEDLOG continues to integrate smart digital solutions across documentation, scheduling, and process visibility, supporting safer, cleaner, and more transparent logistics operations.

MTD LCP demonstrates how MEDLOG Thailand is enhancing inland logistics capacity, service reliability, and sustainable operations for Thai customers. With a professional workforce experienced in international standards and local market realities, the company remains committed to supporting both global trade flows and Thailand’s logistics development.
