Maersk Integrated Ground Freight Linehaul Hub Lake City Georgia

New Southeast Facility Strengthens National Logistics Network and Enhances Regional Connectivity

Maersk has officially opened a new ground freight station and integrated linehaul operations hub in Lake City, Georgia. Strategically located just south of Atlanta, the facility is designed to strengthen Maersk’s national logistics coverage across the Southeastern United States while integrating into a broader portfolio of end-to-end supply chain services.

The hub is situated near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and provides direct access to Interstate 75, placing it within a critical logistics corridor. This location offers seamless connectivity to major rail lines, regional distribution centers, and Atlanta’s industrial zones, facilitating both regional and national freight movements.

Advanced Infrastructure and Fleet Capabilities

The Lake City facility features 105,000 square feet of operational space and 28 loading docks. To support its regional operations, the hub maintains a dedicated fleet consisting of 15 trucks and 60 trailers.

The hub supports a comprehensive range of logistics services, including:

  • Specialized and standard Less-than-Truckload (LTL) services
  • Expedited LTL and Full-Truckload (FTL) movements
  • Integrated linehaul operations
  • Home and store delivery solutions
  • Dedicated fleet management

Gabe Alizieri, Head of Maersk Ground Freight, stated that the investment reflects a commitment to building a smarter and more connected network. He noted that by consolidating cartage and hub operations in Lake City, Maersk can improve transit times and offer more reliable service to regional businesses.

Digital Precision and Network Expansion

In alignment with Maersk’s network optimization strategy, the hub utilizes advanced routing intelligence and real-time visibility platforms. The facility is equipped with RF scanning and digital dimensioning technology, which ensures shipment accuracy and provides operational transparency for customers throughout the delivery cycle.

The opening of the Lake City hub follows the recent inauguration of a similar station in Dallas-Fort Worth, and was closely followed by a new Ground Freight station in Savannah, Georgia in early December. With more than 65 facilities now operating across North America, Maersk continues to expand its ground freight footprint through a combination of strategic infrastructure and integrated technology.

The expansion is a key step toward Maersk’s long-term goal of connecting supply chains across the United States, providing customers with greater speed, reliability, and end-to-end control through its global logistics network.
