CI9 Service Expands Connectivity Between South China, Southeast Asia, and Chennai
Interasia Lines has announced the launch of a new Far East – East India container service, designated as CI9. The new offering is designed to enhance the carrier’s regional network coverage, providing a direct link between major ports in South China, Southeast Asia, and the East Coast of India.
The CI9 service is scheduled to commence operations on 5 December 2025. It will operate on a 28-day round voyage using a fleet of vessels in the 2,500–2,800 TEU class. This addition marks a strategic expansion for Interasia Lines, strengthening its presence in the South China–India corridor, one of the region’s fastest-growing trade lanes.
Port Rotation and Scheduling Options

The CI9 service follows a fixed weekly rotation, connecting key industrial and transshipment hubs: Nansha – Shekou – Laem Chabang – Port Klang (West Port) – Chennai – Port Klang (North Port) – Nansha
By including calls at both the West and North ports of Port Klang, the service offers shippers greater flexibility and more reliable connections within Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian market. The direct call at Chennai provides a vital gateway for cargo destined for the industrial heartlands of Southern India.
Commitment to Customer-Focused Solutions
Interasia Lines stated that the launch of CI9 is a testament to the company’s commitment to delivering reliable services with expanded scheduling options. The new loop provides a stable and efficient transportation solution, catering to the diverse needs of shippers and consignees operating across Asia.
The introduction of CI9 follows several other network enhancements by Interasia Lines in 2025, including the launch of the Korea-China-Indonesia (KCI) service and a significant investment in a newbuilding program for six 2,900 TEU container vessels. These developments underscore the carrier’s long-term strategy to reinforce its competitive standing in the intra-Asia market through specialized infrastructure and customer-centric service design.
