Prachuap Port Co., Ltd. (PPC), a private commercial deep-sea port operator under Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Co., Ltd. (SSI), has appointed Mr. Anuwat Chaikittiwanich as its new Managing Director as the company expands its focus beyond steel cargo into project cargo and broader maritime logistics services.
Mr. Anuwat brings more than a decade of leadership experience in logistics management across SSL and SVL Group. His appointment comes as PPC advances plans to strengthen its port and back-of-port infrastructure while developing new services for heavy-lift, out-of-gauge and other specialized cargo.
Expanding Beyond Traditional Steel Cargo
PPC aims to build on its existing capabilities to support a wider range of industrial customers, particularly those requiring specialised infrastructure, technical expertise and strict safety management.
Project cargo is expected to become one of the port’s key growth areas. PPC has previously handled specialised shipments including wind turbine components and heavy machinery, demonstrating its ability to manage complex cargo requiring detailed engineering and operational planning.
To support end-to-end movements, the company coordinates regulatory requirements, route planning, transport schedules and liaison with relevant government agencies from the port through to final destination.
Building an Integrated Service Platform
Under the new leadership, PPC will focus on three core business areas: Blue Transport, covering maritime transport and stevedoring; Blue Offshore, providing offshore support services; and Blue Conservation, focused on marine environmental management and conservation.
Together, these businesses are intended to create a more integrated service platform connecting berth operations, storage areas and inland transport.
Strengthening Port Infrastructure
Located in Bang Saphan District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Prachuap Port has a draft of approximately 15 metres and can accommodate vessels of up to 110,000 DWT.
PPC is also developing its back-of-port areas to increase capacity for cargo handling, staging and warehousing while improving connections with maritime and multimodal transport networks.
Safety and community impact will remain central to the expansion, with the company maintaining traffic management and driver safety standards aimed at reducing accident risks and minimising disruption to surrounding communities.
Through these developments, PPC aims to position Prachuap Port as a broader maritime logistics gateway capable of supporting Thailand’s industrial and project cargo sectors.
