Maersk Southeastern Logistics Footprint Savannah Ground Freight Station

Facility Enhances Pickup and Delivery Services Near One of North America’s Fastest-Growing Port Gateways

Maersk has inaugurated a new Ground Freight (MGF) Station in Savannah, Georgia, marking a further expansion of its integrated logistics network within the United States. The opening follows several recent infrastructure investments in the region, including new hubs in Lake City, Georgia, and Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas.

The 20,000-square-foot facility is designed to provide specialized pickup and delivery (PU&D) services for the Savannah market. Equipped with three loading docks and a dedicated fleet of vehicles, the station offers local businesses increased control and reliability over their first- and last-mile logistics.

Strategic Integration with Port and Highway Infrastructure

The station is positioned to leverage Savannah’s status as a critical maritime and land-based logistics hub. Located in close proximity to the Port of Savannah, the facility has direct access to I-95 and I-16, facilitating rapid transit to major Southeastern economic centers, including Atlanta, Jacksonville, Charleston, and Charlotte.

By embedding this new station into its existing Contract Logistics network in Savannah, Maersk aims to create a more resilient regional ecosystem. The facility acts as a bridge between international trade lanes and domestic ground transport, allowing for a more seamless transition of goods from vessel to door.

Scaling the North American Ground Freight Network

The Savannah opening is part of a broader national strategy to simplify complex supply chains through a single point of contact. Bob Livingston, Head of Maersk Ground Freight Operations, North America, stated that the new facility is an important component in building a more connected network, helping to deliver integrated solutions that streamline operations for customers.

With more than 65 ground freight facilities now operating across North America, the company continues to prioritize regional hubs that provide end-to-end visibility. This “one partner” approach is intended to reduce the administrative and operational complexity often associated with multi-vendor logistics, providing shippers with greater speed and transparency throughout the delivery process.
