Nacora International Insurance Brokers enables Kuehne+Nagel to become the first global logistics provider to offer its customers the opportunity to purchase a professional cargo insurance solution that supports the restoration and protection of marine flora and fauna, complementing its logistics services.

Each cargo insurance, ad hoc or annual policy booked via Kuehne+Nagel or placed by Nacora via its digital “e-insurance” system, will assist in funding projects of the US-based non-profit organisation “The Marine Megafauna Foundation” (MMF).

The MMF’s main targets are safeguarding marine biodiversity and, in particular, protecting endangered marine megafauna populations, creating or expanding key marine protected areas and educating and integrating local communities and stakeholders into our conservation mission.

MMF has become known for pursuing ambitious case studies in developing nations. “We aim to set valuable precedents for the successful management of marine wildlife worldwide and inspire a new breed of conservation biologists to get the job done,” says Dr Andrea Marshall, co-founder & principal scientist.

Steffen Bergholz, Managing Director of the Nacora Group, says: “To meet current and future responsibilities, Nacora is introducing the first integrated placement model in commercial insurance to preserve maritime habitats. We involve all business partners who benefit from global logistics services, and we hope to ignite a global sustainable development by setting this example.”

The Cargo Insurance product is underwritten by global insurance companies Zurich Insurance Company Ltd. and AXA XL, both with excellent financial ratings.
