Yangpu International Container Terminal, operated under COSCO SHIPPING, has announced a robust performance in the first quarter of 2025, handling 468,000 TEUs. This represents a significant 7.3% year-on-year increase, marking a strong start to the year for the terminal.
Capacity Expansion and Network Enhancement
The terminal has undergone a major upgrade with the completion of Phase I of the Yangpu regional container hub expansion. This project has added 700 meters of new quay line and brought upgraded port equipment into operation. As a result, the terminal’s annual handling capacity has increased to 3.6 million TEUs, providing a solid foundation for enhanced efficiency and throughput.
Yangpu is also actively strengthening its international connectivity. This includes denser service frequencies on the Xiaochantan–Ho Chi Minh and Thailand–Vietnam routes, along with the launch of a new direct route to the Philippines. By utilizing the “same-vessel domestic and foreign trade” model, Yangpu is establishing itself as a critical transshipment hub connecting South China and Southeast Asia.
