Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT), the leading port operator in Thailand, continues to tackle climate change by increasing green spaces in the surrounding communities of Laem Chabang Port. The ongoing initiative in collaboration with the Faculty of International Maritime Studies, Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus (IMS, KU) of “the 2nd Year Trees Planting” is part of the recently extended Go Green project Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to continue promoting sustainability in the sea freight industry by cooperating with academia and initiating CSR programs.

In the second year of the Tree Planting event, they selected 40 perennial trees, including Thong U-rai (Tecoma stans) and Chong Kho (Purple Bauhinia), to expand the number of green spaces in the campus and surrounding communities. Hutchison Ports Thailand’s management and staff joined professors, staff, and students from the IMS, KU, to plant the trees. The event reinforced the Go Green project’s goals of preserving and protecting the environment from climate change and is a testament to the commitment of Hutchison Ports Group worldwide to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
