Global ocean carrier ZIM Integrated Shipping Services (ZIM) has officially announced a major operational update to its premium ZMP (ZIM Med Pacific) service loop. Beginning in late June 2026, the service will add a direct weekly port call at the Port of Xingang (Tianjin), China.
The strategic adjustment establishes a unique, direct maritime connection linking Northern China’s major industrial gateway directly to primary commercial ports in Israel and the Western Mediterranean without requiring mid-voyage transshipment.
The first vessel to operate under the updated framework is the ZIM San Diego (Voyage 076W), which was scheduled to make its initial call at Xingang on June 29, 2026.
Streamlined Port Rotation Supporting Westbound Trade Lanes
The integration of Xingang refines the ZMP loop, offering competitive transit times for high-value industrial goods, electronics, and consumer retail exports moving from China and Southeast Asia into key Mediterranean consumer markets.
The updated ZMP service operates on the following weekly rotation:
New ZMP Port Rotation: Xingang – Qingdao – Shanghai – Ningbo – Da Chan Bay – Cai Mep – Valencia – Barcelona – Genoa – Ashdod – Haifa
By maintaining this fixed weekly rotation, ZIM provides shippers with reliable, direct access to the Spanish ports of Valencia and Barcelona, the Italian gateway of Genoa, and the primary Israeli hubs of Ashdod and Haifa. Additionally, the carrier will utilize its regional hub network to feed cargo bound for alternative Mediterranean and Black Sea destinations via efficient transshipment (T/S) connections.
Maintaining Korean Connectivity via Strategic Transshipment
While the mainline vessel rotation shifts to accommodate the Northern China expansion, ZIM will continue to provide active coverage for South Korean trade lanes.
The ZMP service will continue to serve Pusan, South Korea, via a highly synchronized, weekly transshipment connection at the Port of Ningbo, China. This operational bypass is structured to maintain competitive transit times and consistent equipment availability for Korean exporters targeting Mediterranean and Southern European markets.
