The world’s first 10,000-DWT pure electric container ships developed and constructed by COSCO SHIPPING, were recently unveiled in COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Yangzhou. Gu Cuihong and Jing Tao were invited to name the two “sister ships”, “COSCO SHIPPING LV SHUI 01” and “COSCO SHIPPING LV SHUI 02,” respectively, and presented champagne gifts.

These two pure electric ships are the world’s first 10,000-DWT container ships operating from river to sea and the largest pure electric container ships globally. With a total length of 119.8 meters and a moulded beam of 23.6 meters, the ship spans the size of 10 standard basketball courts. They are now the largest pure electric container ships on the Yangtze River’s golden waterway.

Once the 700TEU pure electric container ship enters service, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2,918 tons annually. This reduction is equivalent to the annual emissions of 2,035 family cars, and the emission savings can be compared to planting 160,000 trees.
