PIL Kota Pelangi Historic Maiden Call Chile

A historic moment for Pacific International Lines (PIL) occurred on July 24 with the maiden call of the 11,800 TEU vessel, the Kota Pelangi, at the port of San Antonio, Chile. This event marked the first time PIL deployed one of its “P”-Class vessels to Chile, making the Kota Pelangi the largest PIL vessel ever to berth in the country.

Enhanced Service and Market Commitment

The vessel was operating along PIL’s West Coast South America Service 6 (WS6) route, which was recently enhanced in April of this year to include a call at San Antonio Terminal Internacional S.A. The vessel is currently on its return journey back to Asia.

To celebrate this significant occasion, the PIL Chile team hosted customers aboard the Kota Pelangi on July 25. The visitors were given a tour and an opportunity to learn more about the vessel’s operations and features.

The strategic enhancement of the WS6 route and the deployment of a larger vessel like the Kota Pelangi underscore PIL’s commitment to and confidence in the Chilean and broader Latin American markets. The company stated its intention to continue strengthening its connectivity and service offerings in the region, living up to its purpose of “Putting Customers First” and “Pushing Boundaries” to deliver better solutions.
