Global container carrier Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has introduced the Afungi Shuttle, a dedicated coastal feeder service connecting Afungi, Mozambique, with key regional hubs in Nacala and Maputo.
The new maritime link creates a specialized gateway into Cabo Delgado Province, designed to handle project cargo and support accelerating industrial and energy developments across northern Mozambique.
Supporting LNG Infrastructure and Project Freight
The Afungi Shuttle is tailored to carry heavy industrial supplies and construction equipment required for the development of Mozambique’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure. Key freight profiles handled by the service include:

The service operates via two dedicated coastal feeder loops that link Afungi directly to Mozambique’s primary commercial port gateways:
- Nacala – Afungi – Nacala
- Maputo – Afungi – Maputo
By linking Afungi into MSC’s global liner network through Maputo and Nacala, regional shippers gain direct access to main-line services connecting Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East, and Southern Africa.
