The NYK Group has committed to acquiring the healthcare logistics business of the Walden Group, a strategic move that will significantly expand its presence in the European market. The acquisition is being led by Yusen Logistics (Europe) B.V., an overseas subsidiary of Yusen Logistics Group, and is currently pending regulatory clearances and the finalization of a Share Purchase Agreement.
The target of the acquisition is the entire share capital of Movianto International B.V., a key part of Walden’s healthcare logistics business.
Expanding a Key Growth Sector
The acquired business includes key entities such as Movianto, Eurotranspharma, Transpharma International, and Walden Digital. Operating from 138 locations across 12 European countries, this business provides specialized contract logistics, 4PL, and temperature-controlled distribution services for the healthcare industry.
The acquisition is part of Yusen Logistics Group’s strategy to position healthcare logistics as a key growth area. The deal will combine Walden’s specialized expertise with Yusen’s global network, enabling the group to provide higher-value services to a broader market.
The transaction aligns with the NYK Group’s medium-term management plan, which identifies logistics as a core business segment. This is the first global acquisition since Yusen Logistics Global Management Co., Ltd. took over the leadership of the group, underscoring its focus on business transformation and continued investment in key growth areas.
