NX Automotive Logistics USA, Inc. (NXAL), a specialized subsidiary of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, INC., has announced the operational completion of its new Warehouse No. 4. Located on the grounds of its North American corporate headquarters in East Liberty, Ohio, the massive facility officially marked its opening with a completion ceremony on 15 April 2026.
Boasting a total floor area of 16,762 square meters, the expansion significantly boosts NXAL’s storage capacity, container consolidation, and export packaging workflows. The strategic asset positions the logistics provider to capture expanding automotive supply chain volumes within the United States Midwest manufacturing corridor.

Proximity to Production Hubs Mitigates Lead Times
NXAL has maintained its core operational base in Ohio since September 1989, managing complex production logistics, sub-assembly, specialized kitting, inventory sequencing, and export repackaging. In recent years, the rapid proliferation of Electric Vehicle (EV) platforms and advanced driver-assistance architectures has increased the raw volume and technical diversity of component parts moving through automotive supply chains.
This inventory diversification has created an industry-wide push to secure stable, high-capacity warehousing assets directly adjacent to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) final assembly lines.

Situated inside Ohio’s primary automotive manufacturing industrial zone, Warehouse No. 4 leverages its direct proximity to major vehicle assembly plants to slash transport lead times and streamline just-in-time (JIT) material delivery. To manage high-velocity freight movements, the building is engineered with 50 dedicated dock doors to optimize cross-docking workflows and eliminate trailer yard bottlenecks. Furthermore, the building layout features extended high-ceiling clearance zones to accommodate multi-level high-density racking networks and handle heavy, non-standard industrial cargo shapes.
Embedding Sustainability and Digital Transformation (DX) into Operations
In alignment with global corporate ESG mandates, the facility incorporates a variety of low-emission industrial technologies to build a highly sustainable logistics environment:
- Eco-Friendly Operations: The building utilizes low-energy LED illumination systems exclusively and operates a 100% electric forklift fleet, reducing indoor particulate emissions and lowering the facility’s baseline carbon intensity.
- Renewable Energy Integration: Technical teams are actively installing a large-scale rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) array. Once fully commissioned, the solar grid is projected to generate over 50% of the warehouse’s total operational electricity demand, significantly curbing Scope 2 grid power consumption.
Looking ahead, NXAL is targeting sustained productivity gains and labor optimization through the deployment of dedicated Digital Transformation (DX) technologies. Plans include the operational integration of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) to assist floor staff with component picking and material movement. By linking these automated platforms with existing campus infrastructure, the site can dynamically adjust to fluctuating cargo volumes and shifting consumer demands.
Aligning with Global Supply Chain Growth
Shunya Ishii, President of NXAL, noted that since the company’s founding in 1989, growth has driven forward by focusing primarily on production logistics for the North American automotive sector. He stated that the expansion of warehousing capacity allows the company to augment its business scope to achieve further development. He added that in addition to providing high-quality services, NXAL focuses heavily on automation and environmental initiatives to enhance its market presence, intending to maximize this new facility to assist its clients and the local community over the long term.
The deployment of Warehouse No. 4 supports the NX Group’s broader long-term roadmap to solidify its commercial standing as a top-tier international logistics provider. By continuously scaling up its physical infrastructure inside core United States manufacturing hubs, the group ensures it can reliably back the global international transport networks of its automotive customers.
