A.P. Moller-Maersk has opened a new ground freight facility in Fontana, California, strengthening its logistics network across North America.
The 165,000 square foot facility is located in the Inland Empire, a major logistics hub serving Southern California and wider U.S. distribution networks.
Strengthening Regional Logistics Connectivity
The Fontana site includes 22 loading docks and operates a fleet of 18 vehicles with round-the-clock operations. Its location provides access to key transport corridors, including Interstates 10 and 15, as well as connections to rail infrastructure and Ontario International Airport.
The new hub is expected to reduce turnaround times for certain shipments by up to five hours while providing improved connectivity through the Ontario corridor, complementing air cargo operations at Los Angeles International Airport.
Expanding Maersk’s Inland Logistics Network
The Fontana facility complements Maersk’s existing ground freight stations across California, including Sacramento, San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles. The site also connects with the company’s contract logistics operations in the Inland Empire, supporting warehousing and distribution activities in the region.
Maersk said the expansion forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen integrated logistics services and enhance supply chain resilience for customers across North America.
The company currently operates more than 65 ground freight facilities across the region, linking inland transport networks with global trade lanes.
