The M.V. OCEAN INSPIRATION, a new vessel from COSCO SHIPPING Energy, has completed its maiden voyage following a recent naming ceremony in Shanghai. This vessel represents a significant collaboration within the global energy transition, driven by “dual carbon” goals, and is set to bolster the resilient growth of the energy industry chain. Its construction notably incorporates a pioneering “China-made propeller + SCR” collaborative power architecture, which effectively reduces overall energy consumption.
The M.V. OCEAN INSPIRATION is equipped with a world-leading cargo containment system and a dual-fuel low-speed engine propulsion system, complemented by a brand-new cryogenic device. These features enable it to precisely balance speed with evaporation gas dynamics and seamlessly switch between long and short route operation modes. Its navigation adaptability covers over 90% of global LNG trade routes.

A key achievement of this project is the successful domestic substitution for core equipment, including low-temperature butterfly valves and low-temperature expansion joints. With its robust capabilities in “full-chain autonomy + full-scenario adaptation,” the vessel invigorates China’s solution for clean energy maritime transportation.
The practical application of this domestically produced equipment on the ship is expected to contribute significantly to the formation of a hundred-billion-yuan industrial cluster within China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry, injecting strong momentum into the development of the national LNG industrial chain.
