LX Pantos has officially begun construction on a massive new facility, the New Port Eco Logistics Center, at the Busan New Port Hinterland Complex. The groundbreaking ceremony for the mega-sized center took place on June 19, with the project set to become the largest logistics hub in Korea upon its completion in December 2026. This strategic investment aims to bolster the nation’s logistics competitiveness and solidify Busan’s role as a major hub for Northeast Asia and the emerging Arctic shipping route.
A Strategic Partnership with LG Electronics
The project, valued at $80.2 million, is being developed through a consortium-based investment. LX Pantos holds a 90% equity stake, with LG Electronics taking a 10% stake—a notable and rare partnership between a shipper and a logistics provider. This collaboration is designed to enhance efficiency, with the new center planned to consolidate LG Electronics’ cargo volumes from the Gyeongnam region and provide customized logistics solutions for a wide range of clients.
Key Infrastructure for a Global Gateway
Spanning a land area of 125,720 square meters, the facility is approximately the size of 18 soccer fields and will have a total floor area of 76,083 square meters. Its location within the Busan New Port, which ranks as the world’s second-largest transshipment port and seventh globally in container throughput, positions it as a critical import-export gateway. LX Pantos’ CEO, Lee Yong-ho, stated that the center will not only ensure stable logistics operations for domestic and global customers but also spearhead the development of high-value logistics services, supporting the port’s ambition to become the world’s top port.
