Kuehne+Nagel Schwalbe Vietnam Partnership Global Tyre Distribution

Export Hub Expands to 20,000 sqm to Meet Rising Worldwide Demand

Kuehne+Nagel and Schwalbe are celebrating a decade of strategic collaboration with a major expansion of Schwalbe’s export distribution centre in Vietnam. The facility is being enlarged to nearly 20,000 square meters, doubling its capacity to manage the surging global demand for high-performance bicycle tyres and tubes.

The expansion marks a significant milestone in the 10-year partnership and solidifies Vietnam’s position as the primary manufacturing and logistics hub for Schwalbe’s global operations.

A Global Gateway for Sustainable Mobility

From the upgraded Ho Chi Minh City facility, Schwalbe distributes its specialized products to 43 international markets across Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa.

  • Supply Chain Consolidation: In early 2024, Schwalbe strategically shifted its entire tyre and tube production from Indonesia to Vietnam to leverage the “volume and logistics advantages” provided by the state-of-the-art facility.
  • Economic Impact: The project is a joint investment that continues to create high-skilled jobs for local talent while supporting Vietnam’s role in the global green mobility sector.
  • Environmental Focus: Both companies are utilizing the expansion to pilot new sustainable logistics initiatives, including the use of Sustainable Marine Fuel (SMF) for sea freight and optimized packaging to reduce waste.

Innovation Through Collaboration

The expanded hub is equipped with advanced warehouse management systems and modern machinery to ensure the same high-quality standards across Schwalbe’s entire product line, from professional racing tyres to heavy-duty e-bike models.

Bjoern Traemann, Managing Director of Kuehne+Nagel Vietnam, stated that the expansion demonstrates how a shared commitment to innovation allows both companies to meet global customer demands more sustainably. Vanessa Schulte, Schwalbe’s Head of Supply Chain Management, echoed this sentiment, noting that Kuehne+Nagel’s expertise has been “vital” to Schwalbe’s successful transition into a Vietnam-focused production model.
