HMM has launched a new North China–Indonesia Service (NIS), expanding its intra-Asia network with a direct connection between key ports in northern China and Indonesia. The service will enhance HMM’s competitiveness in the fast-growing Indonesian market while improving feeder connectivity to its long-haul trades.

The NIS will be jointly operated with Singapore-based carriers Pacific International Lines (PIL) and X-Press Feeders, deploying five vessels with capacities ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 TEU. The first voyage is scheduled to depart from Tianjin on June 19, with a full 35-day round trip connecting major ports in China, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Port rotation:
Tianjin – Qingdao – Xiamen – Singapore – Jakarta – Surabaya – Singapore – Tianjin

HMM views this new route as a strategic extension of its existing ICN (Intra-Asia Cross Network) service, offering shippers greater flexibility and improved transit times for cargo moving between China, Southeast Asia, and long-haul destinations via Singapore.

“Beyond our core long-haul services, we plan to continue expanding our network coverage in regions such as Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean,” an HMM official stated.

With Indonesia’s growing importance as both a manufacturing hub and consumer market, the NIS will strengthen HMM’s position in regional trade lanes while offering customers increased frequency and reliable service options.
