Hapag-Lloyd Presence Middle East New Office Oman

Hapag-Lloyd has opened a new office in Muscat, Oman, expanding its regional footprint and strengthening service capabilities across the Gulf.

The new office supports Hapag-Lloyd’s existing network in Oman, where the carrier offers weekly services calling at Sohar for import and export cargo, while Salalah serves as a major transhipment hub within the company’s network under the Gemini Cooperation. Oman’s ports handled more than 4 million TEUs in 2024, reflecting the country’s growing role in regional and global supply chains.

Oman’s economy continues to record steady growth, supported by diversification initiatives under the national Vision 2040 plan. While oil and gas remain important, sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, tourism, renewable energy, mining and fisheries are contributing to broader economic resilience. The country’s location along the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman positions it as a strategic logistics gateway for international trade.

Lars Sorensen, Senior Managing Director Region Middle East at Hapag-Lloyd, said the opening of the Muscat office marked a milestone in the company’s Middle East strategy. He noted that a dedicated local team would enable closer engagement with customers and partners, supporting Oman’s development as a regional trade hub.

Hapag-Lloyd said the new office reinforces its long-term commitment to the region and to providing reliable shipping services for customers across the Middle East.
