DHL Supply Chain Japan has commenced construction of a new logistics center in Chitose City, Hokkaido, designed to support the country’s growing semiconductor industry. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility, known as the Chitose Logistics Center, was held on August 19.
The project is a direct response to the Japanese government’s initiative to bolster the domestic semiconductor sector and aligns with DHL Supply Chain’s global strategy to double its business by 2030.
A Strategic Hub for Advanced Logistics
The new center is strategically located adjacent to a next-generation semiconductor industrial cluster, positioning it to provide advanced, value-added logistics services. The facility will offer solutions such as inventory storage, in-plant logistics, and on-demand delivery of engineering parts for semiconductor manufacturers and suppliers. Its proximity to the New Chitose Airport and key manufacturing sites will ensure robust domestic and international supply chain connectivity.
According to Jerome Gillet, President & Representative Director, CEO Japan and Korea at DHL Supply Chain, the center will serve as a hub that contributes to the growth of Hokkaido’s semiconductor ecosystem and the revitalization of the local economy. He noted that the company will leverage its global network to provide precise quality control and timely delivery of precision parts.

Designed for Sustainability and Efficiency
Scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, the Chitose Logistics Center is a single-story, multi-user facility spanning approximately 14,500 square meters. Its design emphasizes flexible and high-functioning operations to meet the complex needs of the industry. The center will also feature several sustainable elements, including the use of renewable energy, rainwater harvesting for water optimization, and LED lighting with motion sensors to improve energy efficiency.
