CEVA Logistics has officially opened a new 4,300-square-meter automated distribution center in the Alashankou Free Trade Zone. Located 15 minutes from the Kazakhstan-China border, the facility serves as a consolidation hub for Less-than-Truckload (LTL) shipments and integrated International Road Transport (TIR) solutions along the China–Central Asia–Caucasus–Europe trade corridor.
Facility Capabilities and Automation Technology
Leveraging local customs workflows, the facility completes cargo consolidation and onward transit in 6 to 12 hours. The site incorporates high-level logistics automation and monitoring systems:
- Automated Handling: Integrates electric autonomous forklifts driven by a central Warehouse Management System (WMS) utilizing RFID and AI-based dimensioning technologies.
- Real-Time Oversight: Connects order execution with customs status tracking, supported by GPS and IoT-equipped trucks for end-to-end cargo visibility.
- Operational Impact: Powers an optimized LTL service connecting Shenzhen and Suzhou with Tashkent, Uzbekistan, cutting total transit times from 20 days down to 9–11 days.
Customer Integration and Decarbonization Initiatives
Lenovo is utilizing the new hub for regular cargo flows between China and Kazakhstan. CEVA has deployed heavy-duty electric trucks to collect goods from Chinese production plants for consolidation at Alashankou, a model expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 46% compared to conventional transport options.
Executive and Regional Statements
Kelvin Tang, APAC Ground & Rail Leader at CEVA Logistics, highlighted that Alashankou’s annual throughput exceeded 29 million tons in 2025, with ground volumes rising 8.6% year-over-year. Tang stated the facility positions CEVA to meet growing trans-Eurasian trade demand with lower-carbon road solutions.
Wei Wei, Vice Mayor of Alashankou, noted that the facility enhances regional cross-border logistics capabilities and reinforces the city’s role as a major inland port gateway linking Asia and Europe.
