CEVA Logistics has expanded its sustainable transport portfolio with the launch of a new low carbon Less Than Container Load (LCL) ocean freight service connecting France and Ivory Coast. The weekly service, operating from Rouen, Marseille, and Lyon to Abidjan, uses marine biofuel to achieve up to 84% CO₂ emissions reduction compared to conventional ocean freight.

The route, introduced under CEVA’s FORPLANET sustainable logistics platform, offers shippers a climate-responsible alternative for smaller cargo volumes while maintaining consistent transit times and operational reliability. The initiative is aimed at supporting carbon-conscious supply chains between Europe and West Africa, a region of increasing importance in global trade flows.

“With this new LCL service, we’re offering customers a more sustainable shipping option for cargo bound for West Africa, while maintaining schedule reliability and transit time performance,” said Paul Bernard, Managing Director for West Africa and Overseas Territories at CEVA Logistics. “It’s another step in delivering on our ambition to support greener supply chains across high-growth markets.”

Operating on a fixed weekly schedule, the service offers a 24-day transit time between Rouen and Abidjan. All shipments are powered by CEVA’s marine biofuel supply, which significantly reduces lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions without compromising vessel performance or container handling standards.

The new France–Ivory Coast service is part of CEVA FORPLANET, the company’s suite of sustainable logistics offerings launched in November 2024. FORPLANET includes a range of low carbon solutions, from modal shift strategies and emissions optimization tools to alternative fuels across ocean, air, and ground transport. In 2024, CEVA avoided over 26,000 tons of CO₂ emissions by using more than 10 million litres of sustainable marine and aviation fuels.

CEVA’s sustainability approach extends across all transport modes. For ocean freight, it includes marine biofuels and emissions tracking. In air cargo, CEVA supports customers through access to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), while in road freight, the company offers low-emission options including biofuels and electric vehicles. These integrated offerings help customers address Scope 3 emissions targets, comply with evolving environmental regulations, and make tangible progress toward decarbonised logistics.

The new low carbon LCL service to Abidjan underscores CEVA’s continued investment in sustainable growth corridors and its commitment to developing scalable, low-emissions freight options for global customers.
