Movianto, part of Yusen Logistics, has opened a new pharmaceutical logistics hub in Wiesloch, Germany, significantly expanding its temperature-controlled healthcare logistics capacity in Europe.
The facility adds 10,000 pallet positions for products requiring storage between 2°C and 8°C, along with 2,400 pallet positions for deep-freeze storage at -20°C and -26°C. Future capabilities will also include ultra-low temperature storage of up to -80°C for vaccines, biologics and other sensitive healthcare products.
Expanding Cold Chain Capacity
Located at VGP Park Wiesloch-Walldorf near the A5 and A6 motorways, the facility comprises approximately 30,000 square metres of warehouse space and 1,500 square metres of office space.
The site officially opened in September 2026 and is expected to become fully operational in November.
The warehouse is divided into multiple temperature zones, including ambient storage at 15°C to 25°C, refrigerated storage at 2°C to 8°C and deep-freeze areas. Movianto also plans to introduce Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) operations within the refrigerated section to support customers requiring specialist pharmaceutical handling.
Connecting Storage with European Distribution
The Wiesloch facility connects with Eurotranspharma’s dedicated healthcare distribution network, providing access to specialised last-mile delivery services across nine European countries.
Eurotranspharma operates a dual-temperature fleet capable of transporting products at both 15°C to 25°C and 2°C to 8°C, allowing Yusen Logistics Healthcare to integrate pharmaceutical warehousing, temperature-controlled transport and final delivery through a single network.
The facility is expected to employ up to 180 people.
Supporting Security and Sustainability
Movianto is pursuing TAPA-A certification for the facility, reflecting the security requirements associated with high-value and sensitive healthcare products.
The site has also achieved DGNB Gold certification and is targeting Platinum status. Sustainability features include heat pumps, LED lighting, rainwater management and a rooftop photovoltaic system expected to generate around 3,100 megawatt-hours of electricity annually.
According to Yusen Logistics, the new facility strengthens its broader strategy to develop an integrated healthcare logistics network across Europe, combining large-scale pharmaceutical storage with specialised transport and distribution capabilities.
