The Vietnam Ports Association (VPA) recently organized a workshop on “Green Transformation in the Maritime Industry” at the Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT). The event, which saw the participation of nearly 70 delegates, was held in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person attendance at CMIT and online participation via the MS Teams platform.
The workshop aimed to facilitate the exchange of information, sharing of experiences, and raising of awareness among the port sector regarding the urgent need for green transformation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the maritime industry. With a focus on achieving the goal of green transformation, the event also addressed Vietnam’s commitments at COP26, aiming to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
Notable speakers at the workshop included Mr. Pham Hoai Trung, who presented on modern technologies and solutions to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the maritime industry, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky, who discussed the impact of CO2 reduction commitments on Vietnam’s port sector, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thao and Lieutenant Colonel Vu Anh Tuan, who shared their practical experiences in implementing green transformation plans.
The workshop garnered significant interest from the attending delegates, who engaged in enthusiastic discussions on the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing green transformation. It was collectively agreed that strengthening cooperation among stakeholders is essential for accelerating the green transformation process and advancing Vietnam’s port sector further on the path to sustainable development.
