Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) announced the winners of the ‘Green Port Saves the Ocean’ painting contest, under the Go Green initiative. Running from May to July 2024, the contest invited students across Thailand to submit artwork envisioning a sustainable future, highlighting green ports’ role in ocean protection.
The awards ceremony took place today at HPT and the attendees enjoyed a guided tour at the visitor centre, including a presentation on HPT’s advanced port technology and the Go Green initiative.
The event’s highlight was the awards presentation by Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director of Hutchison Ports Thailand and South East Asia, and Mr. Anat Machima, Chief Operating Officer, alongside Dr. Punarut Sirichokpokin, Assistant to the President for Corporate Communication and International Affairs, and Mr. Worawut Poma, Lecturer of Nautical Science and Maritime Logistics, Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus’s Faculty of International Maritime Studies. The contest included two categories: upper secondary students (Mathayom 4- 6 or equivalent) and tertiary students aged 25 and under.
In total, HPT received 205 submissions across both categories, highlighting the creativity and passion of young artists from various educational institutions. The awards included scholarships and certificates of recognition. Top prize winners received a 10,000-baht scholarship, a trophy, and a certificate. Second- and third-place winners received 8,000 baht and 5,000 baht, respectively, along with certificates. Additionally, four honourable mentions were awarded 2,000-baht scholarships and certificates.
The Go Green initiative, launched in 2020 in partnership with Kasetsart University (KU), is a cornerstone of HPT’s sustainability efforts. The initiative seeks to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices among HPT staff, students, and the broader community. HPT also aims at achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Mr. Ashworth highlighted the various activities organised under this year’s Go Green initiative. Notably, the ‘WASTE2WORTH’ workshop focused on sustainable waste management practices and saw participation from HPT employees, KU students, and local community members, fostering engagement with communities and schools across various provinces.
Additionally, following today’s award announcement, the company will share the winners’ works on its social media platforms, showcasing Thai talents more widely and instilling a sense of pride in the participants.

Their support has enabled the company to fulfil the dreams and imagination of the youth involved.
