MSC Fruit Logistica 2024

MSC recently showcased its expertise in transporting fresh produce at the Fruit Logistica 2024 event in Berlin. The event brought together key players in the fresh fruit industry to discuss developments and exchange ideas.

At the event, MSC highlighted how it supports the fresh fruit industry by transporting goods in reefers and meeting all applicable cold treatment standards. MSC has over 1,000 reefer experts on its team, working closely with customers to create door-to-door services to ensure the products arrive in perfect condition. The company can carry nearly half a million reefers on its fleet at any one time, making it a leading player in the market.

MSC also participated in panel discussions at the event. One such panel, titled “Supply chain decarbonisation in action – Viable alternatives for East African exporters,” featured Paul Bletterman, Regional Senior Reefer Manager & Business Development, MSC Kenya. The panel explored how network improvements can open up new commercial opportunities for fruit and vegetable suppliers in the region.

MSC also participated in a presentation on the importance of digital documentation for the future of shipping. The company has committed to achieving 100% eBL adoption by 2030, along with eight other ocean carrier members of the Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA). The presentation, titled “Are we on the right path to paperless produce shipments?” was given by Patrick Racioppi, Director of Business Transformation, MSC.

As the fresh fruit market continues to grow, with a projected growth rate of nearly seven per cent each year, MSC’s expertise in transporting fresh produce and commitment to digital transformation makes it a key player in the industry.
