DHL Supply Chain, a global leader in contract logistics, celebrates the construction of a new facility in Yachiyo, Chiba. The DHL Yachiyo Logistics Center is a strategic and crucial step by DHL to help grow its business presence in Greater Tokyo.
“This investment demonstrates our confidence in our strong market position and future growth. By utilizing our global best practices and know-how coupled with knowledge of the local market and fashion logistics expertise developed over the years, we will provide supply chain solutions a step ahead of customer needs to support their business and grow together”, said Mr Jérôme Gillet, President & Representative Director, CEO Japan and Korea, DHL Supply Chain.
The new eco-friendly facility developed by DHL’s Real Estate Solutions team aims to provide logistical services tailored to retail luxury and lifestyle products. The DHL Yachiyo Logistics Center is connected to airports and seaports along the main route of Fashion Bin, a unique delivery network developed and operated by DHL for retail stores/shopping malls offering fashion and apparel products. DHL Supply Chain’s logistics facility is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023.
“With fast-changing market demands and requirement for quick response, the consumer and retail sectors is the industry where we can demonstrate our strengths supported by the largest global network and highly quality-managed processes”, stated Mr Gillet.
The sustainable design features solutions such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and LED lighting with motion sensors. As a result, the facility aims to obtain LEED Gold, a global green building rating system by the US Green Building Council.
