MSC Project Cargo Expertise Mega Cargo Show 2026 Mumbai

MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) has successfully concluded its showcase at the Mega Cargo Show 2026, held on 17–18 March at the Jio World Convention Centre. As India’s premier exhibition for project cargo, breakbulk, and heavy lift, the event provided a platform for MSC to demonstrate its role in supporting the nation’s rapid infrastructure and industrial expansion.

With the event wrapping up yesterday, the focus now shifts to the execution of the new partnerships and specialized logistics strategies discussed at Booth J-01.

Customised Solutions for India’s Infrastructure Boom

As India’s demand for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects reaches new heights, MSC highlighted its ability to move oversized and high-value cargo with surgical precision. The company’s approach centers on a “safety-first” philosophy, utilizing a variety of specialized equipment to handle non-containerised loads.

Specialized Equipment & Handling:

  • Flat Racks & Open Tops: For cargo that exceeds the dimensions of standard containers.
  • Platform Units: Utilized for exceptionally heavy or wide loads that require a reinforced base.
  • Bespoke Securing: Custom lashing and bracing strategies developed by in-house engineers to ensure cargo stability during transit.

Strategic Insights from Ben Collins

A highlight of the opening day (Tuesday, 17 March) was a keynote session led by Ben Collins, MSC’s Global Project Cargo Manager. Collins addressed a packed house on the “Current Global Trends and Future Prospects of Project Cargo,” focusing on how container ships are increasingly being adapted to carry Breakbulk and Out-of-Gauge (OOG) cargo.

Key takeaways from the session included:

  • Multimodal Integration: The necessity of seamless sea-to-rail and sea-to-road transitions for “door-to-door” project delivery.
  • Feasibility Assessments: Why detailed pre-stowage planning and route surveys are critical to avoiding delays in complex industrial corridors.
  • Digital Tracking: The growing demand for real-time visibility and sensor-based monitoring for high-value machinery.

Connecting India to Global Trade Lanes

MSC’s participation underscores its long-term commitment to the Indian market. By leveraging its global network and inland waterway capabilities, the carrier offers specialized logistics that connect Indian manufacturing hubs directly to global markets in Europe, the Americas, and Africa.

The MSC team of specialists spent the two-day event engaging with EPC contractors and industrial manufacturers to design logistics frameworks that minimize risk while maximizing cost-efficiency for even the most challenging heavy-lift requirements.
